CUHK SZRI and Corvinus University of Budapest sign Strategic Partnership Agreement
The Shenzhen Research Institute of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK-SZRI) and Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement at the recent Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – Europe (Hungary) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference in Budapest, Hungary to advance joint collaboration in research, education, technology transfer and entrepreneurship between the two institutions and strengthen the economic and academic exchanges between China and Hungary.
Building on the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year between CUHK-SZRI and CUB, the Strategic Partnership Agreement calls for the implementation of a clear strategic plan to develop a research-driven innovation and incubation platform named Academic and Innovation Matrix (AIM). Both CUHK-SZRI and CUB will leverage this platform to facilitate academic exchange, talent mobility and the joint development of high-quality educational programmes. The collaboration will drive cutting-edge advancements in knowledge and technology between CUHK-SZRI and CUB, and well aligns with the Belt and Road initiative, fostering broader economic and academic ties between China and Hungary.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – Europe (Hungary) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference was attended by high-level delegates from the Greater Bay Area and over 300 distinguished representatives from the political and business sectors of Hungary and other European countries. During the conference, 36 cross-border cooperation agreements were signed, with the Strategic Partnership Agreement between CUHK-SZRI and CUB being one of the most far-reaching academic collaborations.
The conference was jointly organised by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. The event underscored the commitment of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to global investment and collaboration, in line with the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Notable attendees included Mr. Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province; Mr. Gong Tao, Chinese Ambassador to Hungary; Mr. Erick Tsang Kwok-wai, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs in the HKSAR Government; and Mr. Yu Yusheng, Chairman of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute. Following the ceremony, Mr. Tsang engaged with CUHK representatives, acknowledging the partnership’s role in strengthening ties between the Greater Bay Area and Europe. The collaboration marks a pivotal step in fostering international academic and economic synergy, further elevating the global influence of the Greater Bay Area.
